sometimes advertising bugs you

here's an ad campaign that i heard about, but couldn't believe it til i saw it. and here it is.

talk about non-traditional advertising. it does seem a little inhumane, but honestly, who really feels sorry for a cockroach? anyways, this campaign (there's a contest and website too), crawled out of david & goliath in los angeles.

superb stop-motion

ok this website has some of the best stop-motion films i've seen: http://www.eatpes.com they've done a lot of creative commercials, too. here's a cool one i discovered.

i remember seeing the ones for bacardi and coinstar on tv in the states as well. some of their other videos are pretty crazy.

the wind

here's another one of my favorites that reinforces the motto i stated in the previous post.

fantasticness. i can see why it won a gold lion at cannes. oh, and interestingly enough it's from nordpol+ hamburg. i wish we had internships there...

font conference

ridiculuosly funny for all designers, art directors and general font enthusiasts. who knew you could be so creative with typefaces? i think a good motto is "when in doubt, personify something peppered with humor."

punched!

really doesn't have anything to do with advertising, but i just discovered this recently. most random and hilarious video i've ever seen.

on second thought, it does kind of have to do with advertising, considering the hulu intro and message bar at the bottom of the player throughout the video. i guess they are trying to compete with youtube, but it's still annoying. i actually tried to find this video without the hulu attachment, but was obviously unsuccessful.
oh, it could also work for weight watchers or the south beach diet or something. lol.

here's a wild idea

i found this on another advertising blog, but it is definitely worth re-posting. simple yet creative multi-media campaign by BBDO West in san fran to get people more interested in the san francisco zoo. step one: get your picture taken in front of the ad (in bus shelters and at the zoo). step 2: upload it to the oursfzoo.org. the best pics get uploaded to the gallery. i wonder why they chose to use a butterfly, giraffe, kudu and peacock. i think an octopus would have been sweet! or a lemur. or a lion with a huge mane! yea!

cool design - looks like the leopard os.

i wanna get into these pants

i love this viral video! i always have dreams that i am floating like that (except my dreams don't include product placements). oh that's a great idea! we need to invent a device that places products in peoples' dreams...
ok anyways, it's a cool piece by Cutwater of San Francisco and Tate USA. it really works because there is no overt levi's endorsement (i.e. logo or something) because it would lose it's cool, homemade appeal. i wonder how many teenage guys are going to try to do this now.
