break free from the pack

yet another brief that most creatives dread - and i know this first hand b/c a bunch of kids had to work on this brand for the account planning bootcamp during my third quarter. i think this is a great ad for nuvaring contraceptive ring.

its so simple. i love the visual parallel of synchronized swimmers to traditional bc pills. the tagline is also awesome "break free from the pack."
its a great alternative for many girls who frequently forget to take a pill everyday. still, i don't know if it would make me switch...

here's the commercial i saw on tv last night; pretty crappy quality but it's the only mac-friendly, embeddable version i could find.


one interesting fact is that apparently there are two versions: one computer-animated and the other live action. i saw the live action one on tv and according to yahoo news, the computerized 'test version' was released without authorization by a disgruntled employee.
why would you make a whole animated test version? i would think a storyboard would have sufficed.

i couldn't find the agency from which this commercial came. maybe its the same mysterious one that did the tampax ad that i like. ;)
